Wet Paint returns to weekend format - great bargains on new art

After experimenting with changes to the format for the popular art event, “Wet Paint” last year, the Newport Art Museum is returning to the occasion’s roots as a two-day celebration of shared art-making experiences. “Wet Paint” weekend, sponsored by William Vareika Fine Arts Ltd, is coming up on Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17 in Newport. “Still wet" artworks created by regional artists on Saturday will be sold during silent and live auctions. Proceeds benefit the Museum's extensive education, exhibition and community outreach programs.

Newport artist John MacGowan says, “Year after year, Wet Paint makes the Museum’s grounds buzz with activity. In one weekend, this festival brings so many with so much together and it delivers results that are felt throughout the community. It’s hugely popular and fun. Those who step forward to give are enormously generous. For many, ‘Wet Paint’ is a 'feel good" cause to rally around!”

Here's the schedule:Artist registration Aug.16, 8-10am or in advance online. Preview, silent bidding, and reception Aug. 16, 6-9pm. Silent bidding continues Aug. 17, noon - 3 pm.
