Purgatory Conglomerate
I am geology professor at Yale and I visit Newport and Middletown with students each year to study the impressive rocky exposures of conglomerate at Purgatory Chasm. We also select an additional rock outcrop of conglomerate each year to measure deformed shapes of the cobbles in the conglomerates.
My problem is that we have "lost" one of our outcrops and I am hoping that someone in the Newport or Middletown area will recognize my description or pictures of the these rocks.
The outcrop is located on an intersection in a residential area in Newport or perhaps Middletown. I remember that there was a white house on the lot. Pictures of the rocks are posted at: http://wildwest.geology.yale.edu/ponyexpress/Brandon/. Write me if you can help. My email address is mark.brandon@yale.edu.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Mark Brandon
