The Newport Folk Festival announced their line up for the weekend dates of the August 1-3 festival taking place at Fort Adams.

The shocker was that the headline acts, Jimmy Buffet and The Black Crowes, seem so far from the Folk Festival tradition.

The story from the Boston Globe says that the Folk Festival change ownership this winter and it looks like they are looking to drive bigger audiences. Part of me can understand stand that, but the thought Jimmy Buffet fans being drawn to the city makes me look forward to getting away that weekend.
